Archenland and The Biodynamic Gardening Initiative
was founded by Anny & Paul König in 2000 to help ordinary gardeners work
biodynamically.
Biodynamics for Gardeners -
The BGI offers gardeners advice on working biodynamically. We can also come to your gardening society
or group to give illustrated talks and workshops there. Paul is also an
HDRA Master
Composter and is very happy to give advice on all aspects of this.

Anny
began gardening as a child under the tuition of her father and uncle,
both of whom used the old methods which are now known as 'organic'. In
the 1950s there wasn't much else. Later, when Paul became interested in
biodynamics she was delighted to find that many of the things she'd
learned from her father and uncle are part of the backbone of
biodynamics. Anny designed and built a biodynamic town garden at their
terrace house in London. When they moved to the Welsh Marches she began
again, starting with a bare field on 1st June 2000. She designed and
built Archenland in two years and, yes, it
really is possible for a garden to become established this quickly with
the aid of biodynamics. She helps people design gardens which respect and
interact with the natural world, helping people to create their own
'paradise' ... paradise is the old Persian word for garden. |

Paul
first began gardening under the aegis of an uncle who was also a fruit
farmer in Kent, in south east Britain. In 1991 he became interested in
biodynamics and learned from Karin Herms about the making and use of the
preparations. He began his own 'Stirring Group' in SW London which came
to include a dozen of his neighbours, plus people from north London and
other towns in the South East. When he and Anny moved to the Welsh
Marches he joined the South Hereford Biodynamic Group. He and Anny built
the garden at Archenland as a demonstration of how biodynamics works on
a small scale and for the 'average gardener'. Biodynamics should be
available to everyone, it is so good, simple and cheap, as well as good
for the environment. |
